Running Zabbix on a MikroTik ROSE Data Server (RDS): Monitoring 500+ Network Devices

This project demonstrates how a MikroTik ROSE Data Server (RDS) can run Zabbix directly on RouterOS to monitor a production network with more than 500 devices. Using six 1TB NVMe drives in RAID5, the system is processing approximately 355 monitoring values per second while using only 2GB of RAM and 1.2–2% CPU, showing just how capable the RDS can be as an all-in-one network monitoring and storage platform.

Containerized App Management with RouterOS by MikroTik

RouterOS Apps introduce a simplified way to deploy containerized services directly on MikroTik routers, allowing operators to run infrastructure tools such as DNS, monitoring, and logging without separate servers or virtualization platforms. With just a few clicks, RouterOS automatically deploys containers along with required networking and firewall configuration. This capability enables ISPs and network operators to host operational services closer to the network while reducing complexity and infrastructure overhead.
